Talent Manager

Location: Remote (European time zone) or Berlin, Germany, with travel opportunities across Europe

Commitment: Part-Time or Full-Time

About Us

The European Defense Tech Hub (EDTH) is building Europe’s largest grassroots defense innovation community.

Through hackathons, conferences, workshops, field demonstrations, and online communities, we bring together engineers, founders, operators, investors, industry, and policymakers to accelerate European defense innovation.

A growing number of companies in our network are hiring. At the same time, thousands of talented engineers, operators, researchers, and builders are participating in EDTH events across Europe.

We believe Europe’s defense future depends not only on technology, but on connecting the right people with the right missions.

Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive Talent Manager to build and activate Europe’s leading defense-tech talent network.

You will focus on growing and maintaining our talent pool, understanding hiring needs across our company network, creating opportunities for talent and employers to meet, and using automation and AI to scale these efforts efficiently.

Your goal is simple: Help great people find meaningful work in defense, and help great companies find exceptional talent.

Success in This Role

Your work should directly contribute to:

  1. Growing the EDTH talent pool
  2. Increasing successful hires across our network
  3. Creating stronger relationships with both talent and employers
  4. Establishing EDTH as Europe’s go-to talent network for defense and security innovation

Key Responsibilities

1. Build & Manage the EDTH Talent Pool

  • Maintain and improve the quality of talent data
  • Review and enrich candidate profiles
  • Follow up with community members and applicants
  • Segment talent by skills, experience, interests, and availability
  • Identify high-potential candidates and rising talent within the community
  • Continuously grow the network through events, referrals, and partnerships

2. Talent Community Engagement

Stay close to the people in our network.

Examples include:

  • Following up with hackathon participants
  • Staying in touch with standout engineers and founders
  • Understanding career interests and availability
  • Helping talent discover relevant opportunities
  • Building long-term relationships rather than transactional recruiting

You should know who the best computer vision engineers, robotics builders, EW specialists, autonomy engineers, hardware hackers, and defense founders in our network are.

3. Hiring Events & Talent Programs

Design and organize events that help talent and employers connect.

Examples:

  • “Careers in Defense” webinars
  • Virtual hiring fairs
  • Company pitch nights
  • Founder AMA sessions
  • Talent matchmaking events
  • Specialized sessions focused on AI, robotics, autonomy, aerospace, cyber, or defense engineering

For example: Five defense-tech companies present what they are building and who they are hiring, while 100 highly qualified engineers attend and apply directly.

4. Company Success & Hiring Support

Work closely with companies in the EDTH network to understand their hiring needs.

Examples include:

  • Regular check-ins with hiring companies
  • Helping define hiring priorities
  • Making warm introductions
  • Recommending relevant candidates
  • Creating targeted hiring events
  • Helping companies improve visibility among top talent

You are not expected to run full recruiting processes, but you should help companies hire more successfully by leveraging your network.

5. AI & Automation

We want to automate as much administrative work as possible.

You will:

  • Design workflows that reduce manual effort
  • Manage AI agents and automation tools
  • Improve talent onboarding processes
  • Build systems for candidate follow-up and engagement
  • Create scalable processes that allow a small team to support thousands of professionals

The goal is to spend less time updating spreadsheets and more time creating meaningful connections.

6. Talent Intelligence

Develop a deep understanding of talent trends across the European defense ecosystem.

Examples include:

  • Which roles are hardest to hire
  • Which skills are in highest demand
  • Emerging talent clusters
  • Hiring bottlenecks
  • Compensation trends
  • Workforce needs across defense and security sectors

Use these insights to improve EDTH’s talent offerings and support network companies.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with talent databases, CRMs, or ATS systems
  • Experience organizing events or communities is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with AI tools and workflow automation is highly desirable

Skills

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent English skills; additional foreign languages is a plus
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously
  • Comfortable speaking with engineers, founders, executives, and operators
  • Data-driven mindset
  • Experience with Airtable, Notion, HubSpot, Clay, LinkedIn Recruiter, or similar tools is a plus

Attributes

  • Highly proactive and self-directed
  • Curious about people and careers
  • Strong systems thinker
  • Enjoys building communities
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Excited about defense technology, innovation, and European security

What We Offer
